Dr. Michael D. Wasco

DDS

Dr. Wasco graduated from The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry in June of 2008. He originally received a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2000 from the Wright State University. Following a few years in the workforce, Dr. Wasco desired a career change and further explored a desire for dentistry. He is pleased with his decision to further his education and enjoys practicing dentistry. Dr. Wasco is a member of the American Dental Association and the Ohio Dental Association. As a member of the Stark County Dental Society and participant in the Frank Spears study group, Dr. Wasco remains current on information with the community and surrounding area.

Dr. Wasco grew up within the Canal Fulton area and graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School. He recalls enjoying bike rides in the summer as a child to Oser’s dairy in downtown Canal Fulton. Dr. Wasco currently resides in Jackson Township with his wife and three sons. He states, “It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to contribute to and enjoy such a wonderful community here in Canal Fulton.”

Why I love to do what I do

I thought my career path was set following high school. I was to go to college, study engineering, obtain a job, and follow my 5-year plan. Math and science were my strong subjects, and I enjoyed understanding how complex things worked, so of course, I had confidence that engineering would be the perfect fit. Confidence that did not prove to be a path meant for me. I found a job and was quickly laid off due to the company’s economic concerns. I moved on to another job but quickly found that was all they were to me, just a job. They were good jobs, but they didn’t feel right, and I was not in control of my own destiny. I just didn’t have the passion I thought I would in engineering. As I started to ponder where to go from there, I found myself in the waiting room of my new dentist. I was intrigued by the brochures and informational videos explaining the dental procedures of root canals, crowns, and implants. Upon meeting the dentist, I was impressed. He was willing to take the time to talk to me, get to know why I was coming to his office and how good dental health could impact me. He opened my eyes to see that his job was much more than just cleaning and fixing teeth; it was much more. It created excitement and willingness to return to school for a new career. Being a dentist means that fixing someone’s tooth, smile, or educating on better dental hygiene can make a lasting impact on their lives. I have the opportunity to treat patients the way they deserve to be treated with integrity and a commitment to their satisfaction.
